Nikitsk Botanical Garden, Yalta, Crimean Autonomous Republic of Ukraine.

http://www.nbg.crimea.ua/eng/basics.html

Just before last year's democratic Orange Revolution, in Ukraine, ten acres of the Nikitsk Botanical garden were privitized for dachas belonging to New-Ukrainian oligarchs close to former President Leonid Kuchma. Additionally, 865 acres of land within the Yalta Mountain-Forest Preserve were taken possession of and distributed to colleagues of former President Kuchma. Democratically elected President Viktor Yushchenko repossessed this Crimean and Ukrainian National Park land last year.

Yesterday, the State of Donetsk Oblast Court took away 145 hectares of land from the richest man in Ukraine, which had been -- just before the Orange Revolution -- part of the famous Donetsk Botanical Gardens in Eastern Ukraine. The richest man in Ukraine, Rynat Akhmetov, used the land to build a palace-residence [including helipad and hangar for two helicopters and three planes], together with several buildings for Viktor Yanukovych, the Russian-backed Presidential candidate opponent of the Orange Revolution and currently the leader of the Party of Regions.
