Antal Dorati's live recording of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, with the European Symphony Orchestra and the University of Maryland Chorus, was produced by the Berlin-based Concert-producing arm of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), a non-partisan international grouping of medical organisations dedicated to the abolition of nuclear weapons. This organization works with the long-term victims of nuclear explosions and accidents from Hiroshima to Chernobyl. Their work has been recognised with the 1984 UNESCO Peace Prize and the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize.

The next concert by IPPNW - Concerts is the Chernobyl Children's 20th Anniversary Benefit Concert on April 26, 2006, at the Berlin Philharmonie. The program will feature readings about Chernobyl by Swetlana Alexijewitsch, and performances of Schubert's Octet and Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, with bariton Thomas Quasthoff, under Christian Ehwald.
