... of our 2009 Series Concert!
François-Frédéric Guy
plays Brahms, Beethoven & Schubert

François-Frédéric Guy is firmly established as a pianist of immense interpretative authority and superlative technique, especially admired in music of the Austro-German tradition. With his exceptional command of keyboard sonority, he has made a specialty of works on the grandest scale, such as the major piano works of Brahms, and Beethoven's Hammerklavier. His recording of this last work was recently declared the best available by BBC Radio 3's "Building a Library."

"This (...) French pianist captures the audaciousness and wild flights of the score and plays brilliantly. Yet there is remarkable clarity and poise in his performance. Textures are clear; every note speaks; no detail is fudged."
- The New York Times

Program:

BRAHMS: Fantasia Op116
BEETHOVEN: Piano Sonata No 31 in A flat Major Op110
SCHUBERT: Sonata for Piano in A Major, D959

A wine reception to meet the pianist will follow the performance.
