Whither Phoenician/Pre-Socratic - Greco/Roman - Judeo - Christian - Muslim - United Nations Wisdom And Civilization?

Baalbek, Lebanon (map). Site of the mysterious Ancient Phoenician-Greco-Roman Heliopolis Acropolis, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.

"This Phoenician city, where a triad of deities was worshipped, was known as Heliopolis during the Hellenistic [Greek] period. It retained its religious function during Roman times, when the sanctuary of the Heliopolitan Jupiter attracted thousands of pilgrims. Baalbek, with its colossal structures, is one of the finest examples of Imperial Roman architecture at its apogee."

The later Roman Emperor Justinian appropriated eight of the Roman columns for the Christian basilica of Hagia Sophia, in Constantinople; which is today a Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, NATO.
