Very roughly, the same combined numbers of civilians and military/police officers were killed in China and Romania in, respectively, the late Spring and early Winter of 1989. The number of Chinese dead is subject to greater uncertainty than in Romania (now European Union), given the continuing political control by the Chinese Communist authorities.
