Ukraine's economic output is lower now than at the end of communism, while it has doubled in neighbouring Poland since the end of communism

A total of 168 schools have been damaged in eastern Ukraine since fighting began, according to information gathered by UNICEF from the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science.

Local activists and bloggers said that the trajectory of the shelling could be traced back to the separatist-controlled areas of Donetsk.
